Feel free to tune in to Understanding God's Word Teleconference Bible Study every Tuesday night @ 6:45PM EST, 5:45pm CST, 4:45pm MST, and 3:45 PST. and every Tuesday night. All you will need to do is pick up your phone and call this number (712)-432-3900 and then enter code 730746 followed by the # when prompted.
Topic of discussion is "Mortifying the Deeds of the Flesh/Self" Romans 8, Ephesians 4:17-25; Romans 12:1-3, Luke 22:32
Whenever we operate according to the dictates of the flesh, we use the name of God/Jesus but live and are led according to our our own will power, desires, motives and self efforts. This is a serious problem in the body of Christ, operating without divine influence and attaching God's name on it. Many of us misinterpret the Word of God for our selfish desires and gains. God only works one Way and that is through faith in the Cross of Christ. This is the only way that the Spirit of God will move in our lives.
Once our faith is properly placed, this will empower the Holy Spirit to work in us a Will and a desire to do of His (God's) good pleasure. The first thing He (God the Holy Spirit) does, is to put to death the deeds(works) of the flesh, self efforts, our motives and agendas and replace it with His desire, His will, and His agenda which is totally contrary to our ways/thoughts.

Topic of discussion is a continuation of "Put Off the Old Man and Put On the New" Ephesians 4:17-25; Romans 12:1-3, Luke 22:32
It's not enough just to know the Word of God in your head, it must be applied to your heart. Many of us can quote the Word or embrace the principles, but are we allowing the process of the Cross to be applied to our lives on a daily basis where we put away those sinful acts, lustful desires and works of the flesh. Before Salvation our minds were corrupt and devoid of the Truth. Even after Salvation we must continue to yield our minds over to the Will of God. There are many of us in the body of Christ who can't progress in the things of God due to bondage to lying, lust, sinful acts in every capacity. This is due to not submitting to the Way of the Cross, which will give the Holy Spirit the opportunity to put to death those sinful acts that hinder us in this Christian race.
The Holy Spirit will bring about this character change only as we exhibit faith in the Cross of Christ on a daily basis.(Romans 8:1-2). Our part is to yield or present ourselves as vessels in allowing the Holy Spirit to eliminate self in order to promote the character of Christ. He must increase as I decrease. It doesn't mean that I cease to exist but that my thoughts and perceptions match that of the Bible or Godhead. This is the process of growth which most of us run from in order to do our will/agendas.

Be Renewed in the Spirit of Your Mind" Ephesians 4:20-24; Romans 12:1-3, Luke 22:32
Even after Salvation we must yield our minds over to the Will of God. We must think like Christ in every aspect of life. This mind renewal process must be embraced and we must come to the realization that as a living sacrifice, I no longer live for myself but for the Will of God alone. To be a living sacrifice, I must be dead to self, sin, the world and Satan. Romans 12:2 states "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
Topic of discussion is a continuation of "The Mind of Christ: Be Transformed by Renewing Your Mind" Romans 12:1-3, Luke 22:32
Romans 12:2 states "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
Word studies below:
The word "conformed" in it's original meaning is (suschematizo) to conform one's self (i.e. one's mind and character) to another's pattern, (fashion one's self according to). We are to no longer fashion our mind/thinking/perceptions to that of this world system. We are to be transformed (metamorphoo) which means, the obligation being to undergo a complete change which, under the power of God, will find expression in character and conduct; morphe lays stress on the inward change, schema (see the preceding verb in that verse, suschematizo) lays stress on the outward (see FASHION, No. 3, FORM, No. 2).
The word "Mind" in the Greek is "the mind, comprising alike the faculties of perceiving and understanding and those of feeling, judging, determining the intellectual faculty, the understanding reason in the narrower sense, as the capacity for spiritual truth, the higher powers of the soul, the faculty of perceiving divine things, of recognising goodness and of hating evil the power of considering and judging soberly, calmly and impartially a particular mode of thinking and judging, i.e thoughts, feelings, purposes, desires"
The Holy Spirit will bring about this character change only as we exhibit faith in the Cross of Christ on a daily basis.(Romans 8:1-2). Our part is to yield or present ourselves as vessels in allowing the Holy Spirit to eliminate self, our preconceived thoughts....etc., in order to promote the character of Christ in us. He must increase as I decrease. It doesn't mean that I cease to exist but that my thoughts and perceptions match that of the Bible or Godhead. This is the process of growth which most of us run from in order to do our will/agendas.
