One can't properly grow and mature in the faith if one hasn't been taught the "Truth" according to God's Word. Truth is a Person, Jesus Christ and His atonement at Calvary. Our focus and faith must be placed in this fact daily in order to grow and encounter true Liberty. Our mindset and precepts must be built line upon line as we turn and look into the Perfect Law of Liberty(Christ) by faith, whereby we are changed. 2 Corinthians 3
Your spiritual growth is dependent upon what you Hear. The bible states that Faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God. Most of us are hearing a gospel preached but it must be preached having the right object in view, the Cross of Christ. Most will use the bible as it's source to preach a message but the message is built on the wrong perspective...ie, church rules/regulations, preconceived ideas, religious upbringings...etc. If the Message isn't Jesus Christ and His atoning work at the Cross for Justification (peace with God, the wrath now settled) as well as Sanctification (delivered from life's issue), then spiritual growth and maturity will not take place in the lives of many.
Once we hear properly, it demands that we allow the Spirit of God to apply it to our hearts and lives. Many of us make a great start and claim but we must remember to follow through by obeying and allowing the Spirit of God to change our hearts, minds and soul daily.
We must remember that our faith must be in the Cross of Christ, for this is the only way that the Spirit of God will move and bring about victory in our lives.
